In" The Yellow Wallpaper " by Charlotte Perkins Gilman , I expected this story to be a love story about a couple moving into a new home . What I liked most about this story is how the narrator is trapped in this room and the outcome of her turning insane. What I liked least is how her husband did not really take her seriously. I do recommend this story to a friend because its a great story and its very interesting.
Hey, I do agree on how you said you thought it was going to be a love story. I also thought the same thing. They yellow wallpaper is a story of life. On how women were view back in the day and all they did was listen to the husband and have no say in anything. Femenisim was defenilty shown in this story. I like how the Author son necked it to the women insanity. Is shows the power that men truly have over women and it really drives them crazy. I also really enjoyed his story

ReplyDeleteHey Kalinda Carey Eng 102,
ReplyDeleteYou are absolutely correct about the husband not taking her seriously. I think that you should also include that the narrator was not brave enough to disobey the men’s because of the time period. It is important sometimes to raise your voice to be heard, as the narrator did at the end of the story. She was trapped in a cage in her mind and the wallpaper was the mirror of her mind which helped her break free from this cage. I think we shall give equal opportunity and space to everyone despite their race, sex, gender etc. I like your review.
I read that story once, but unfortunately it became really bizarre to me. I read that story number of times while I was doing that research paper. The thing is that the narrator's husband won't let her out of his sight. Even though, he won't allow the narrator to work on her writing until she gets better. But at soon that he is keeping her at the nursery room, she gets crazy and then she got out of that room for good. I like reading that story, but it is weird as hell.
